About Lauren
I'm currently working as a chemist at Baxter Pharmaceuticals in Deerfield, Illinois and have a wonderful 12 minute commute to work. I am 22 years old and enjoy all kinds of outdoor activities like camping, backpacking, skiing, and bicycling. Up until meeting Jason, the highlight of my life was hiking 100 miles along the Appalachian Trail in Virginia with Riley, my chocolate lab.

About Jason
Jason lives back in Michigan as he is finishing up his Master's degree at Michigan State in mechanical engineering. He's been interviewing in the Chicago area and has had several promising contacts. Jason also loves the great outdoors and prefers participating in rather than watching sports. He played lacrosse, hockey, and tennis in high school. Now he has turned more toward the stuff he can do with me such as kayaking, bicycling, and hiking.

How We Met
Although I wasn't going for my "MRS" degree at Michigan State, fate intervened in organic chemistry lab during the fall semester of 1998. We both started out with different lab partners but by the third week, our partners had both dropped the class. So Jason and I hooked up. Talk about immediate chemistry!! We muddled through synthesis, spectroscopy, and chromatography together. We often spent the evenings studying for classes, writing lab reports, and sharing midnight Dominos pizzas. We both graduated in 2000 and by then were already making plans to be together "for better or worse" (see below).

On Friday February 20, Jason casually invited me to go to the Golden Dragon, our favorite Chinese restaurant. We ordered our normal sweet and sour pork (No. B12) and Kung Pao chicken (No. A4) and just kicked back enjoying the start of the weekend. At the end of dinner, Han, our favorite waiter brought over the bill with 2 fortune cookies. Jason immediately snatched his up (but left the bill on the table). I cracked mine open and inside was a beautiful diamond ring and a pink fortune with the words "Will you marry me?" Unbeknownst to me, Jason had snuck over to Windsor's Chinatown and bought a big 3 pounds of fortune cookies. He had then spent the next 2 hours trying to find a cookie with an opening big enough to fit the ring. He meticulously extracted the old furtune out with tweezers to replace it with his hand written one!

With the "I do's" just around the corner, we thought you might want a sneak preview of the Event, the Music, the Mugshots, and the Moment. We have included directions to the church and reception, accommodations in the area, links of things to do in the Detroit area for our out of town visitors, and a gift registry sponsored by Lauren's Aunt Cynthia. We will post some wedding pictures on this site after our honeymoon, so check back as often as you wish.

Things to do before and after the "I do"

The wedding will be held in Bloomfield Hills, about 30 miles north of Detroit. For those who like to gamble, Detroit has two newly opened casinos, the Motor City and MGM Casinos. Detroit just completed its new baseball stadium in 2000 called Comerica Park so if you're a Tigers or baseball fan, drive on down. Motor town has the best automobile museum in Dearborn called Greenfield Village and Henry Ford Museum which is a full days event. An hour and a half north in Frankenmuth has a huge outlet shopping mall, a Bavarian town, and Bronner's Christmas Store, the largest in the Midwest, if not in the world. A little closer is Great Lakes Crossing Mall (Bass Pro Shop, designers outlet stores, 20 cinemas), Canterbury Village, and Oakland County parks.
